Building Your Family Seminars

 

"Husbands love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her,..." Discovering what that means and how it should be lived out is an exciting, lifelong process. That process is the topic of these sessions.

Sessions include:

Introduction ~ What could be more central to life than the lives of our families? How much time do pastors spend coping with the effects of broken families? How much pain do people experience because of family problems? We will lay the foundation for this series by showing what the Bible says about families and contrasting that with what today's society says.

Father's Role/Mother's Role ~ Father as tyrant and mother as doormat? Mother in charge of the wimpy dad? What does the Bible say about proper roles for parents? There is a significant segment of our society today that says fathers are unnecessary. We need God's direction in this area to put our families in order. What are the keys to that order?

Family Worship ~ How many of our faithful church-attending families have some kind of consistent family worship (or prayer or Bible study) time in their homes? What are some of the excuses we give for that dismal picture? In this session we will give reasons why we should be worshiping in the home and practical suggestions on how to do that (as we step on your toes semi-gently).

How Are You Treating Your Temple? ~ We see in the Scripture that when we obey God's plan for salvation under the new covenant, our bodies become the dwelling place for His own Spirit. Under the old covenant, much care went into building and caring for the temple. God built our "temples" and He has charged us with their care. It's easy to see how behaviors such as smoking and drinking damage our bodies, but what about the food we put in our mouths...sleep deprivation...hectic schedules?

Child Discipline Sessions 1 and 2 ~ The Lord commands us to go into the world and make disciples. It commands us to love one another. It commands husbands to love their wives. It commands fathers not to provoke their children. How do we put these and similar concepts together to build families? In these sessions, we define discipline Biblically and give concrete help and instruction to families on these very important topics.

 

Music Ministry
